Ingredients
2 medium-size avocados
10 mL (2 tsp) fresh lime or lemon juice
2 mL (1/2 tsp) salt
2 green onions, finely chopped
1 small tomato, seeded and finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
30 mL (2 tbsp) seeded and finely chopped fresh or canned green chili pepper
15 mL (1 tbsp) minced fresh cilantro or parsley, or to taste
Directions
- Halve the avocados lengthwise and scoop the flesh into a medium-size bowl. Add the lime juice and salt and mash with a fork, mixing well.
- Add the green onions, tomato, garlic, green chili pepper, and cilantro and blend. Serve immediately, or place a layer of plastic wrap directly on the surface to prevent browning, and refrigerate.
- Guacamole is best eaten the same day it is made, but it will keep, refrigerated, for 2 days. Serve with tortilla chips.
