Tomato Smoothie

This savoury smoothie is a surefire bone-builder, thanks to calcium from the yogurt and vitamin C from fresh tomatoes.

1 cup plain low-fat yogurt
2 large ripe plum tomatoes, peeled, seeded, and chopped
½ teaspoon dried basil, crumbled
¼ teaspoon salt


  1. In blender, whirl yogurt, tomatoes, basil, and salt until very smooth, 2 minutes. Serve over ice, if desired.

Helpful Hint: If you don’t have a blender or food processor, you can still whip up smoothies with a wire whisk in a deep bowl.
