Makes one 9-inch tart

Prep: 20 minutes

Cooking: 25-30 minutes

Keeps: 1 day

Ingredients

1 lb short-crust pastry

1 cup almonds, finely ground

1-1/2 lb seedless grapes, halved

1 tbsp butter 1 tbsp firmly packed brown sugar

1 tbsp dark rum

5 amaretti cookies, crushed

Directions

1. Prepare the pastry, adding ½ cup ground almonds to the dough. Set aside to rest for 30 minutes.

2. Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to a 12-inch round. Fit the dough into a 9-inch pie plate, trimming the edges if needed.

3. Preheat the oven to 350oF.

4. Sauté the grapes in the butter in a skillet over medium heat for 5 minutes.

5. Increase heat to high and add the brown sugar and rum. Stir well and remove from the heat.

6. Sprinkle the cookies over the pastry. Add the grapes and juice. Sprinkle with the remaining ½ cup almonds.

7. Bake from 25-30 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool completely in the pan on a rack.
