1 onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
2 stalks of celery
1 clove of garlic, chopped
1 pound of ground beef
1 can of diced tomatoes (796 ml)
1 cup of long grain rice
1 cup of tomato juice
¼ cup of water
1 tablespoon of chilli sauce
Spices to taste (bay leaves, basil)
- Brown onion and garlic in a bit of olive oil. Add the meat, chilli sauce and spices. Brown beef for a few minutes.
- Add green pepper, celery and cook for two more minutes. Add diced tomatoes, juice, and water and bring to a boil.
- Add rice. Cover and cook on a low flame 15 minutes. If using bay leaf, remove before serving.
