Ingredients

1 cup (250 mL) grated Monterey Jack cheese
1/2 cup (125 mL) cream cheese, softened
1 green onion, thinly sliced
12 jalapeño peppers, halved lengthwise and seeded
1/4 cup (50 mL) dry bread crumbs
4  strips cooked bacon, crumbled

Directions

1. In medium bowl, combine Monterey Jack cheese, cream cheese and green onion.

2. Spoon cheese mixture into each hollowed-out jalapeño pepper half. Sprinkle with bread crumbs and bacon.

3. Arrange peppers, filled side up, on greased grill tray or greased double layer of aluminum foil. Grill, covered, over medium heat until peppers are slightly charred and tender and cheese is melted and bubbly, 6 to 10 minutes. Serve hot or warm.

Note: To make in oven, place prepared peppers on greased rimmed baking sheet. Bake at 350°F (180°C) until peppers are tender, cheese is bubbly and tops are golden, about 30 minutes.
