Evelyn Amirault of Quispamsis, N.B., says, “While vacationing in southern France, my husband and I picked up this object from a knick-knack table at the local
market. It measures seven inches in length and has a screw clamp that tightens the claw. The decorative part of the handle is silver plate, while the main part of the handle is ebony. It’s time to find out what this object is used for-please help!”
