Ryen Pierce, Calgary

“This photo is of my four-year-old son, Easten, and our eight-year-old pitbull, Blue. They are a unique pair who have an uncanny friendship, which, even after eight years with my ‘fur baby,’ I have yet to experience with him. They are my everyday inspiration for taking photos!”

Canadian Morning
Bruce Raby, Perth, Ont.

“While out on a photography tour in June, we were at the north end of Opeongo Lake in Algonquin Park before sunrise, looking for moose to photograph. As we began to move into the shallow waters of the creek at the end of the lake, this canoe came out of the mist just as the sun was rising. A beautiful Canadian morning!”

Dee Barnett, Alberton, P.E.I.

“This tame, 20-year-old goose lives in Montrose, P.E.I. After losing his best friend, another male goose he’d grown up with, the lady who takes care of him wasn’t sure he’d make it. Around that same time, a wild goose lost her mate and the two got together and now have four offspring.  At the moment this photo was taken, he was being very protective of his mate. When I pass the pond where they live, I see a mixture of white and wild geese. Too cute!”

Robyn Hammer, Calgary

“When my ten-month-old twins, Brooklyn and Chase, tried their first ice cream cones, they made me laugh so hard. He stole hers and she was less than impressed. Later, they were laughing together in the grass. I am so proud of my sweet babies that I tried so incredibly hard to have.”
