Layar Fun: Loons, Geese and the Arts
Have you tried the new layar technology in the April/May issue? With Layar, you can interact with the pages of the magazine on your phone! Here is the digital content you can find in the print issue by scanning the pages with your smart phone!
Living with Loons
On page 13 within the photo essay by Mark Lachovsky of Montreal in the April/May issue, you will find the layar symbol. By scanning the page with your phone, a link will bring you to a youtube video with extra stunning photos by Mark, accompanied by a loon soundtrack!
Storytime with Clovis
We began a new department in the magazine called Storytime! Our first story, “Blowing In” by Esther Meerschaut of Harrow, Ont., was illustrated by our fabulous artist Bill Suddick. The story, on page 66 of the April/May issue, also features a layar symbol which brings you to a video showing what the Jack Miner Migratory Bird Sanctuary (where Clovis the goose landed) looked like in 1915! Watch the video after reading Clovis’ story to your kids or grandkids!
A Career in the Arts
In the Showcase story on page 26 of the April/May issue, called “Book Week in Canada” by Alison Acheson of Ladner, B.C., you will find the third layar symbol. This time you will be lead to author Alison’s website where she has a presentation called “Life in the Arts” you can read for inspiration and advice from successful creative people.
