1. Go, Joe!
G.I. Joe: Retaliation
Originally slated for release last summer, this action flick was pushed back to work in more Channing Tatum (People‘s Sexiest Man for 2012). A smart move, as it’s now hotly anticipated-despite being the sequel to a truly terrible movie. In theatres March 29.
2. Oxymoronic Horror Story
The Last Exorcism Part 2
Sure, the title makes no sense, but The Last Exorcism Part I was gripping, especially by tired “found footage” standards, so this sequel is worth a look. In theatres March 1.
3. A Dish Best Served Sexy
Dead Man Down
The genetically blessed Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace star in this thriller about two strangers drawn together by a shared thirst for revenge. In theatres March 8.
4. American Swagger
Emperor
If you think he’s a champion scowler now, wait until Tommy Lee Jones hits screens as American General Douglas MacArthur, who finds himself managing Japan’s transition to peacetime following the Second World War. In theatres March 8.
5. A Man of Action
Hummingbird
Jason Statham is back-again-as a strong, mostly silent type charged with beating down baddies. This time, he’s a special-forces soldier who becomes involved in London’s criminal underworld. In theatres March 15.
6. Magic Trip
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone
The Steves (Carell and Buscemi) star as struggling Las Vegas magicians being outshone by an edgy upstart (Jim Carrey). On top of all that, James Gandolfini in a goofy wig seems almost too good to be true. In theatres March 15.
7. Under Siege
Olympus Has Fallen
Ditching the romantic comedy genre to return to his bread and butter, Gerard Butler plays a Secret Service agent manhandling the safety of America when terrorists overrun the White House. Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) directs. In theatres March 22.
8. Turning to Stone
The Croods
Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Catherine Keener, Cloris Leachman and Emma Stone in an animated prehistoric comedy? And they say Christmas only comes once a year. In theatres March 22.
9. Disney Girls Gone Wild
Spring Breakers
James Franco stars as a cornrowed rapper rolling around with Ashley Benson, Vanessa Hudgens and Bieber ex Selena Gomez in the latest film from misfit auteur Harmony Korine. Franco’s weirdness is well placed, for once. In theatres March 22.
10. Tall Tale
Jack the Giant Slayer
In the spirit of adapting classic fairy tales and adding what script doctors call “a dark twist,” here comes a grisly take on Jack and the Beanstalk. In theatres March 1.
