3. Choose Your Shoes Wisely in Cleveland

Who knew that your choice of footwear could cost you big bucks. In Cleveland, Ohio it’s forbidden for women to don patent leather shoes. The reason? The shiny leather could possibly reflect a woman’s – ahem – underwear or private parts for all to see. Canadian fashionistas, take note when selecting your wardrobe’s accessories.

I grew up in Cleveland Ohio and believe me, lots of women including my mother had, and wore, patent leather shoes! Where do they come up with this garbage?

These may be entertaining, but "should know"? Nope.

You left out the dangerous Kinder Egg... . From Wikipedia: On January 10, 2011, it was reported that a Kinder egg was seized from a woman's car during a random inspection while entering the United States from Canada. She was informed that bringing the egg into the United States could result in a $300 fine. In June 2012 the potential fine per egg was quoted as US$2,500.

Re: "#13 Flirt Free Zone... In Little Rock, Arkansas... Get caught lustfully looking at a female, and you could be thrown in jail for 30 days." Apparently Bill Clinton was above the law in his years as State Governor. Hahaha. Or maybe that's what drove him to Washington?

Now, this is a law I agree with. In Canada you have men openly ogling women and throwing in a few lewd jestures and comments.

I'm Canadian and I don't know what this our 'beloved May 2-4 weekend' is. .. May long weekend I'm guessing, not really known as a big drinking holiday...

im from florida, and i have never heard this in my life, WHAT??? cant sing while wearing a bathing suit? that rediculous, all this crap is ridiculous

While these "laws" are interesting the story of how they became laws would likely be even more interesting.

I would totally support a law making you pull up your pants over your arse, no matter where you live.

As an American I need to point out where these come from, there are "dumb laws" lists that have laws still technically in effect from when the country/states were founded. I know Canada has some entertaining ones as well, I encourage looking them up, they're fun to read. They are neither enforced nor even taught to law enforcement.

In Canada some people are not allowed to use their correct name to work.
I have been going through a nightmare with the government in Canada although I am a Canadian citizen and they know my correct name.
They are trying to insist that I do not use my correct name and it is against the law to use a false name. They only want to accept the false name.
If you want to do a story about this let me know and I will give all the details. This applies to other people but they don't know that they are breaking the law. I do know that I would be breaking the law so I have refused to do so.
Government workers are clowns who talk in circles without listening to what is fact.

Most these Laws were introduced to deter the then"slaves" from getting too close to their masters. They should be scraped out of the books in this day and age, just like the Jim crow laws. They are the stupidest laws in America.

um, ya it is! Live under a rock?

Are you kidding me?? Maybe it's an East Coast thing....Victoria long weekend, go open the cottage with a 2-4 of beer!

I assume May 24th weekend too. That's Victoria Day.

really !!!! Where are you from ... May 2-4 (May 24 or whatever weekend is closest to May 24 / Victoria Day )  has always been known as a big drinking fest.    It signified the beginning to warm weather.  Even out here in the Prairies we all headed to the nearest camp ground to party.

May 2-4 weekend is queen Victoria's birthday celebrated May 24th or closest weekend

Are you kidding me? May 2-4... Victoria Day long weekend is notorious party weekend in Canada!

Hey Yank. Here is one from Alberta to make your day.

“If you are released from prison, it is required that you are given a handgun with bullets and a horse, so you can ride out of town

LOL.  Where do they come up with this 'garbage'?  From the statutes.

Don't take offense, Yank.   There's old laws like these ones all over the world....... that haven't been enforced for decades (The Georgia one sounds more recent) ....... and I'll go out on a limb and say that Toronto ("the good") has a few too.

Takes time to go through and cleans the books of some of these laughers.

I'm an American and I think all of these laws are bogus. I don't know where Reader's Digest dug these up.  This is all silly. Don't believe it!

Every state has laws that have been on the books for years and years.  If you do a little research you could find them yourself.  You'd be surprised at what was against the law in 1800. Most people living now would have been burned at the stake.  LOL
