11. Now That’s A Lot of Calamari
In 1878, a 22-ton giant squid beached near Glove’s Harbour, N.L. Its body was six metres long; the longest tentacle was more than ten metres long; and its eye is said to be the largest eye ever recorded. “It must have been quite a sight,” says Tony Scott Collins of Labrador, N.L., who took this photo of the replica that stands near the discovery.
