Parading Around with the Irish

Between the ages of 9 and 14 I Irish danced in shows and competitions and at least once in the Montreal St. Patrick’s Day parade.

I remember it was a bit chilly at first, but we soon warmed up. It was a strange feeling to dance on wooden boards that kept moving while I was in the air. Whoever was dancing near the open back of the float had to be careful!

After the parade we put on a show in some hall I believe and that’s all I remember. (The only photos I have of my Irish dancing days are hard copy...oh well!)

I would have liked to participate in the parade this year, but in a different way. With my puppy of course! I saw a message on Facebook from the SPCA looking for volunteers to walk their dogs dressed in super hero costumes. Maximus can’t go on long walks yet; the whole thing would be way too exciting for him!

I’ll just have to content myself with attending as a spectator. We’re supposed to have gorgeous weather all weekend. I think I’ll divide it between being outdoors and making some of these tasty Irish-themed recipes:
