It came from reader Shelley Seymour of Moncton, N.B.: I have four cats, a dog, a baby and hardwood floors. One day, I ran out of cloths for my sweeper and instead used an “odd” sock—you know, the ones whose partners get lost in the dryer. It worked like a charm.
