--I'm pretty lucky so far, but wish that we could ALL open up more. I'm working very hard to be the mother-in-law that I didn't have cause no one should have to put up with the one I had. I find, however, that 'independence' can sometimes be more a matter of pushing me away,...they should thank God that I'm NOT my Mom or my ex mothr-in-law, then they really be in a 'pickle'!!! I just want to love them and have us be open to each other instead of them being so protective and defensive, almost pushing me away! I only have one child, one son and I've always wanted a daughter, so they are luckier than most,...at least I don't criticize everything about them and everything they do,...just wish they'd capitalize on my 'old' wisdom, sometimes?! Definitely a work in progress???
