Reader's Digest Canada Announces the Grand Prize Winner of the 73rd National Sweepstakes

Edmonton, AB (April 20, 2011) ― Reader’s Digest Canada is pleased to announce that Mrs. Renate Ackley is the Grand Prize Winner of the Reader’s Digest 73rd National Sweepstakes.

As the first-ever Grand-Prize winner from Alberta,  Ackley was in complete and utter disbelief when she received the letter announcing that she had won the Reader’s Digest 73rd National Sweepstakes. “I was very surprised. I just couldn’t believe it,” said Ackley. “I’ve never won anything before so it really is quite unbelievable.”

In celebration of her good fortune, a ceremony in honour of Ackley was held today for her and her friends and family at the Rutherford House in Edmonton, Alberta. “It’s the best part of my job,” shares Marisa Orsini, Prize Award Administrator at Reader’s Digest.  “Our sweepstakes has been changing lives for over 40 years and I was proud to present Mrs. Ackley with her $500,000 cheque today as our latest Grand Prize winner.”

When asked what she planned to do with her winnings, Ackley said she will share the money with family and in particular, buy my husband a new car since I have already scrapped two in the past!”
